Ant-Man and the Wasp Trailer
The first trailer for the film is snappy and fun, even as Scott, Hope, and Hank Pym are fugitives on the run following Scott’s defeat alongside Steve Rogers' team inCaptain America: Civil War. But now that Hope is suited up, they’re much better off. The first film already showed that Hope was smarter, faster, and a better fighter than Scott (though he’s steadily catching up), and she finally gets to prove it in a new and improved suit that boasts wings and blasters, courtesy of her doting father Hank. And although the situation seems more dire in this sequel, there are still peeks of the light-hearted whimsy that the firstAnt-Manbrought — the slow-motion Hello Kitty PEZ dispenser getting launched at a pursuing motorcyclist is straight uphilarious.
Ant-Man and the Wasphas been touted as thefirst romantic-comedyfrom Marvel, which would certainly make use of the film’s charming and rom-com-ready stars. Rudd and Lilly didn’t get much time to bond (onscreen) in the first heist-heavy film, but already they’re showing tons of sparks in the trailer.
But that doesn’t distract fromAnt-Man and the Wasp’s pivotal place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie will delve into the Quantum Realm, a Marvel alternate dimension accessible through magical energy, mystical transportation, or by the scientific shrinking caused by the Pym Particles. We got a glimpse of the realm in the firstAnt-Man, but its sequel will follow Scott and Hope as they attempt to safely access the Quantum Realm. There have been plenty of hints that the Quantum Realm will play a big part in the upcomingAvengers: Infinity Waras well, so it’s safe to say — more so than for the fairly isolated romp that wasAnt-Man— thatAnt-Man and the Waspwill be required viewing for Marvel fans.
