Casting Notes: Adrien Brody In Woody Allen’s Midnight In Paris; Zoe Saldana In Colombiana; Christopher Walken In Wild Oats
Adrien Brodyhas joined the cast ofMidnight in Paris, the upcomingWoody Allenmovie with a title that now, sadly, sounds far too much like a sex tape. As is so often the case with Allen, the cast is becoming quite impressive: it already featuredMarion Cotillard,Kathy Bates,Rachel McAdams,Owen Wilson,Michael SheenandCarla Bruni-Sarkozy.
Allenrecently said"the film celebrates a young man’s great love for Paris, and simultaneously explores the illusion people have that a life different from their own is better." Brody’s role is said to be ‘flashy.’ [THR]
After the break, Zoe Saldana kills people, and Christopher Walken gets someWild Oats.
Zoe Saldanais talking toLuc Besson’s company Eurocorp about playing an assassin inColombiana, whichOlivier Megaton(Transporter 3) will direct. Besson andRobert Mark Kamenwrote the script, which is set in Latin America. In her youth, Saldana’s character is witness to her parents' murder; as an adult she “works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target: the mobster responsible for her parents' death.” [THR]Wild Oatsalready boastedShirley MacLaineas a widow heading to Vegas after a financial windfall with granddaughterChristina Ricciin tow. The action-comedy also hadMaria Bello,John CorbettandBill Pullmanset to appear. Kind of a strange collection of talent, really. And it just got a bit more so with the addition ofChristopher Walken.
Hopefully his current hair (check the attribution link) won’t join him in the film, though. While Nic Cage takes so much crap for his various awful hairstyles in recent years, I guess Walken has earned himself a free pass or two in that department. But that can only last so long. [THR]
