Casting Notes: Farmiga And Caan Go To Buffalo; New Gigs For Anne Heche And Jessica Biel
Some decent casting notes cropped up in the trade breaks last night, and because I’m just this sort of nice guy I’m about to round up the best for you.
First involvesJames CaanandVera Farmiga, who’ve just joinedKeanu ReevesinHenry’s Crime. The film, you may remember, is written byAnvil!directorSacha Gervasi, and will be directed byMalcolm Venville, recently of44-Inch Chest. Farmiga is the love interest for Reeves, who is falsely accused of robbing a bank in Buffalo. Producer Jordan Schur calls the script “a genius comic fable.“Gervasi himself called it"a twisted, romantic comedy, very dark and funny,” which the trades refer to it as a romantic comedy and Capraesque. So who knows what the hell we’ll see out of this one. [Variety]
After the break,Anne Hechegets love andJessica Bielgets laid.
Anne Heche, meanwhile, will show up in theEd HelmscomedyCedar Rapids. She’s the female lead, opposite Helms as an insurance agent who gets sent to a conference in the big city of Cedar Rapids. There he engages in some shenanigans, tries to save the jobs of his colleagues and befriends Heche. She’ll also be in theColin Ferrell/Mark WahlbergpictureOther Guys. [Variety]
Finally, Jessica Biel likes fing. She’ll be in the ‘we only gave the movie this title to get some publicity because we know it’ll get changed’ filmFing Engaged, in which she’ll play half of a couple who “make a pact to have sex every day leading to their wedding so they don’t turn into their crusty old parents.” So it’s really a dark comedy about the pathetic nature of most human relationships, since you’d hope a young couple who hadn’t been together for years and years would be having sex every day anyway, right?
