First ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Poster Brings Back An Iconic Object

Remakes sometimes elicit knee-jerk irritation from moviegoers tired of seeing the same dreck over and over. But when done right, they’re not so bad and can even be kind of great. And maybe no one is doing them better right now than Disney. The studio has been on a tear lately, dishing up new versions ofCinderella,The Jungle Book, and more for audiences and critics to gobble up. (They had a rare stumble withAlice Through the Looking Glass, but hey, it happens to the best of us.) The next film from their animated library to get the live-action treatment isBeauty and the Beast, starringEmma WatsonandDan Stevensas the new Beauty and the new Beast.

The firstBeauty and the Beastteaser hinted that the new film would be sticking with a traditional take on the fairy tale, and the firstBeauty and the Beastposter suggests the same. Check out the firstBeauty and the Beastposter below.

Beauty and the Beast poster

There’s nothing particularly surprising about the firstBeauty and the Beastposter. It’s a spruced-up version of an iconic object from the 1991 film, the enchanted rose in a bell jar. But sticking to the formula worked out really well withCinderellaandThe Jungle Book. Both tweaked their source material a bit, but neither really tried to reinvent it. Instead, they succeeded by bringing the stories back to their roots and rediscovering the reasons audiences have loved them so much for so long in the first place. HopefullyBeauty and the Beastwill do the same.
