On October 2nd, Marvel Studios bringsThe Avengers: Age of Ultronto Blu-Ray and DVD, and with it comes a slew of new special features for fans to dive into, taking a look at the making of the blockbuster sequel. We’vealready seen the gag reelwith your favorite superheroes messing up some takes, and now a new featurette has surfaced online from the home video release.
The featurette is called “Infinity Six” and it gives fans some background on theInfinity Stonesin addition to recapping which ones we’ve seen in the Marvel cinematic universe (so far there have been four, with two more unaccounted for still). The video also features that quick credits clip froAge of UltronwithThanosfinally deciding to get in the Infinity Stone collecting game himself.

For anyone who hasn’t taken the time to research the comic mythology of the Infinity Stones online, this is a great primer that lays out pretty much everything about the stones that you’ll need to know as we move into Phase Three of Marvel’s cinematic universe and move towards the two-part sequelThe Avengers: Infinity War.
The Infinity Stones are part of one of the most iconic story lines to ever hit the pages of Marvel comics, and that’s why some of the more hardcore fans went nuts when the credits scene fromThe Avengersin 2012 featured the mad titan Thanos and a tease at the chaos he would bring years later. In fact, by the time the Infinity War actually begins, it will have been six years since that scene was teased, and that’s a long time for fans to wait.
Just to recap, so far we have seen the stones that represent Space (the Tesseract), Reality (the Aether fromThor: The Dark World), Power (the contents of the Orb fromGuardians of the Galaxy) and Mind (Loki’s scepter / Vision’s power gem). The remaining gems are for Time and Soul. More than likely the Time gem will pop up inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2and the Soul gem will probably come into play inDoctor Strange, but those are just guesses.
Once these stones are combined and placed into the Infinity Gauntlet, the golden metal glove that Thanos (Josh Brolin) puts on inThe Avengers: Age of Ultroncredits scene, they make whoever wields them nearly invincible. Therefore, if Thanos gets what he wants, he’s going to kick some Avengers ass. And don’t forget, there’stwo Infinity Gaunlets in play too. But we’ve got three to four years before any of this really starts to matter.
