VOTD: Does ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Sync Up With Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’?

In case you somehow didn’t know, there is a common pairing of rock and motion pictures calledDark Side of the Rainbow. Basically, someone with too much time on their hands determined thatPink Floyd’s seminal albumDark Side of the Moonmatched up with the filmThe Wizard of Ozwhen played together. There are various ways in which to sync up the two pieces of entertainment, but if you see it for yourself, you’ll find that there are some very cool moments when they line up perfectly.

Now aStar Warsfan who comes right out and says he has a lot of free time has come to the conclusion thatStar Wars: The Force Awakenswas deliberately edited to go along with “Dark Side of the Moon”, and he’s provided a video to prove his point. Is there a link betweenThe Force AwakensandDark Side of the Moon? Find out below.

Here’s the first eight minutes of what we’ll callThe Dark Side of The Force Awakens(viaReddit):

Forget the fact that it’s positively ridiculous for a major motion picture like this to be purposely edited to the entire album that isDark Side of the Moon, especially because it has to play three times to cover the whole movie. This is still an interesting exercise.

Star Wars: The Force Awakensdoes not perfectly sync up with Pink Floyd’s trippy album, but just likeDark Side of the Rainbow, it does match up occasionally for some cool moments. If you don’t want to try to sync up the movie and the album yourself and just want to know what the similarities are, the originator of this theory has compileda list in the original Reddit post. It’s a little kooky, but then again, so is everything on the internet.

My advice is to just fast forward to about four minutes into the video to when Kylo Ren shows up, because that’s the coolest part of the first eight minutes of this little experiment.
