‘Watchmen’ Casts ‘Sun Records’ Alum Dustin Ingram In Recurring Role

The mystery surroundingDamon Lindelof’s upcomingWatchmenseries is not getting any clearer, even with the casting of a “key” supporting character.Dustin Ingram, star of the CMT seriesSun Records, is joining theWatchmencast in a recurring role that remains undisclosed.

The HBO series inspired byAlan MooreandDave Gibbonsiconic graphic novel has released somefootageand shared a vague synopsis, but we still have little clue whatWatchmenis about. But the latest casting news adds to the intrigue, as a key recurring role played by Dustin Ingram has been announced viaDeadline.

Ingram, who is best known for his supporting role in CMT’sSun Records, is joining a star-studded cast that already includesRegina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, James WolkandHong Chau.

The limited series is set in the same alternate universe as the seminal graphic novel, in which superheroes are treated as outlaws. However, showrunner Damon Lindelof is notably not adapting the comic itself but crafting a sequel set in the same world as the comic, but 30 years later. “We have no desire to ‘adapt’ the twelve issues Mr. Moore and Mr. Gibbons created thirty years ago. Those issues are sacred ground and will not be retread nor recreated nor reproduced nor rebooted. They will however be remixed,” Lindelof said.
